The school honoured its Alumni Dr. Piyush Singla, an ex student of Gian Jyoti from class 2nd to 12th, who secured 84th rank in All India Civil Services. He was placed at second position in Mohali in Senior Secondary School Examination, 2004 with 87% marks. In PMT, he secured 3rd position but he got admission in Medical College on the merit of CBSE. Later he did his MBBS from Rajindra Medical College Patiala. And now he got one more feather in his cap by getting this coveted 84thrank in All India Civil Services.

INDIAN SCHOLARSHIP EXAMINATION
Sumit Kathuria from Class XII secured 16th rank in An all India level, Indian Scholarship Examination based on English and Science, conducted by National Council for Development of Education, Chandigarh,
She was honoured with a cash Prize of `1500 and a merit certificate.
NATIONAL LEVEL SCIENCE TALENT SEARCH EXAMINATION
Nitesh Gautam of class XII 32nd rank in National Level Science Talent Search Examination – 2012 organised by Unified Council – India’s 1st ISO 9001- 2008 Certified Organisation in Testing and Assessment.
Nitesh was honoured with a Gold Medal and Appreciation Certificate along with educational CDs and discount coupons of NSTSE books.
Aryan Katoch from Class V won the theme based ‘on the spot painting competition’ in ‘white group’ organized at Bal Bhawan, Mohali by Child Welfare Council, Punjab in which around 11 schools participated. Aryan painted ‘My favourite festival scene’ and was awarded a trophy and the certificate for the same.

The Board awards Certificate of Merit in each subject to the top of 0.1% of the successful candidates in order to recognize their merit and outstanding performance at its Senior School Certificate Examination. In the same context, Bhavya Jain and Annahet Gill from XII Medical were rewarded with the merit certificates for getting 99 marks each in Physical Education whereas Tania Chadah from XII Medical was rewarded with the merit certificates for 100 marks in Biology.
The Board awards Certificate of Merit to the successful candidates in order to recognize their merit and outstanding performance at its Secondary School Examination. In the same context, Shivani Sharma, Jashanpreet Kaur, Harnarinder Kaur and Komalpreet Kaur were awarded with the Certificate of Merit for obtaining Grade A1 in all five subjects opted by them in All India Secondary School Examination 2012.
THIRD PRIZE IN ‘MORAL AND RELIGIOUS EDUCATION’
Gian Jyoti Global School , Phase2, Mohali felt honoured when its very brilliant student, Shubhangi from Class VIII won a cash prize of ` 300 for grabbing third position in ‘Moral and Religious Education’ ( Naitik Sikhia) conducted at Punjab Level by Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, a Non Political – Academic, cultural and socio – religious organization, at S.A. S Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib Zone.
A painting competition on the theme of Energy Conservation conducted by Ministry of Power and Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Government of India, was organized at Gian Jyoti Public School, Phase2, Mohali in which students from class 4th to 6th participated. The students made very innovative drawings on the above said theme.
Shreya Attri from Class V and Mansi from class IV were placed in first and second position respectively. Their names were sent to the organizers for the second level competitions at state level.
WINNERS AT VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK
Gian Jyotians won various inter school competitions during the Vigilance Awareness Week organised at Income Tax Office, Sector 17, Chandigarh, by the Income Tax Department.
Guruprem from Class XI Commerce and Yogender Singh Raghav from Class XII Medical bagged first and second prizes respectively in Painting competition which was based on the theme of anti- corruption. Harpreet Kaur from Class XII Commerce got second prize in Article Writing on the same theme whereas Aiana Singh from Class XI Medical spell bound the audience with her oratory skills and got II Prize in the Debate. The winners were given away the cash prizes and the books.
WINNERS IN COMPETITIONS BY Pb. STATE POWER CORP. LIMITED.
Gian Jyotians Phase 2, Mohali got laurels for the school by shining in various competitions based on the theme of Energy Conservation organized by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (Demand Side Management) at Gian Jyoti Public School. The competitions focused on power crisis and measures to save it had various faces. Many schools from tricity participated in Declamation and Painting competitions.
Jayati and Monika from Class X stood first and third respectively in declamation contest whereas Simranjeet Kaur from class VII got second place in painting competition.
The winners were given away the trophies and certificates whereas all of the participants were given participation certificates.
64TH RANK IN PUNJAB MEDICAL ENTRANCE TEST
Jatin Garg was placed in 64th rank in Punjab Medical Entrance Test whereas Abdullah got 160th rank and Sakshi Sharma got 376th rank. Dilkirat and Abhinav also cleared PMET with good ranks. Imranjot Singh and Kayennat Puran Singh got 199thand 93rd Rank respectively. Many others were also placed on very respectable ranks in the same.
8TH INTERNATIONAL INFORMATICS OLYMPIAD 2011
The tiny tots brought laurels in 8th International Informatics Olympiad 2011 organized by Computer Literacy Foundation.
42 Students from class 2nd to 9th participated in the event and 10 students were placed in 1st 2ND and 3rd positions class wise for getting considerable marks in the test. 5 students won gold medals, 3 silver whereas 2 students grabbed bronze medals for the same.
Abhishek from Class 2nd scored 87.9 % marks in the first level examination and is placed on 32nd rank in the state and 433rd rank in Olympiads and is selected for the 2nd Level examination.
